United Education (http://www.unitededu.org/) has been dedicated to developing Chinese language classes, Sino-US communications and Sister School Exchange programs in the Bay Area and beyond. We are currently looking to fill several internship positions to help with the administration, logistics and leadership of Chinese/student tour groups coming Fall 2017. Top performing candidates will be considered for full-time positions.
Internship period:
2 months. Mid-August to Mid-October or September to October. (Detailed start and finish dates to be determined. )
Job Description:
1. Student tour group leading teacher: Mid-September to Mid-October, 20 days in total (Full time, includes overnight travel when necessary)
• Interpret and guide elementary or middle school student group while they are visiting sister schools in the US;
• Follow assigned itinerary to coordinate and lead the group for tour arrangements and provide logistical support;
• Visiting cities may include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sacramento area, etc.
2. Office work: 4 to 5 weeks before and/or after tour leading work - approx. 2 days/week (exact dates TBD)
• Training (office training and field practice) will be provided in weeks prior to tour group facilitation to ensure quality of performance and meeting the leading teacher requirements;
• Assist in administrative work for educational travel programs - help maintain and update information in real time;
• Assist in pre-tour preparation and after-tour debriefing work;
• Based on individual interests, Chinese teaching-related work may be assigned, such as material and teaching plan design, educational activities design, marketing research, sorting client information, promoting and advertising Chinese classes, etc.;
• Any other work assigned by the company.
Pay & Benefits:
1. Flexible working schedule: other than the student tour period when you will be asked to follow the assigned schedule exactly, working dates/hours at the office are negotiable. (If you cannot ensure two months of working with us, we are still open to discuss alternative possibilities);
2. During student tour period, if the group stays within the Bay Area, all transportation, meals and gas (if any) within working hours will be covered. If the group travels to other cities, all the items mentioned above and accommodation at hotel will be covered or reimbursed.
3. Internship pay is set at $4000 for the two-month period. (Meals, traffic, accommodation during tour leading will be additionally reimbursed). If working period exceeds or is less than two months, payment will be prorated per further discussion.
Requirements:
1. Fluent Chinese and English oral speaking skills. This will be a bilingual role;
2. Responsible, reliable and quick to adapt to changing circumstances;
3. Outstanding communication and team working skills;
4. Familiar with Chinese and US culture, educational system in the US. Academic background or working experience in Education related major is a plus;
5. Well-organized, detail-oriented, patient and caring for children.
